Who pays for the flower girl's dress?

Updated: Jul 20, 2023

This is an interesting topic. Every year during the wedding season, little princesses are chosen to represent the bride on her special day.

Although every little girl dreams of someday becoming a Flower Girl, just like the bride you may never get the option to achieve the lifelong feat. So when the opportunity lends itself, you jump in and never look back.

The dreaded question arises once the decision is made to include a Flower Girl in the wedding party. Who pays for the flower girl's dress?

On most occasions, the parents are the selected individuals that are chosen to pay for the ensemble. In some instances there are other prospects that will offer to contribute to the cost of the wedding, these include, family members such as grandparents, aunts and uncles, sisters, etc.

When I became a bride I chose the option of paying for the Flower Girl Dress myself.

This is not uncommon in the wedding world. I personally prefer this method as I was able to contribute to the extra costs that they incurred for travel to attend the big day.

No hard rules apply to who pays for the Flower Girl Dress, so whichever route you choose, be specific about who is responsible for paying for the Flower Girl's attire. Whether it is the Bride, the parents of the child, or another family member, this will alleviate any misconceptions, misunderstandings, and endless stress.
